2011 Club Championships
AAU
This year Achieve teams that do not qualify for Junior Nationals will be attending the 3rd Annual Summer Soiree or 38th Annual AAA Championships for their end of the year events instead of Festival. 12s, 13s and 14s divisions will attend the Soiree and 15s, 16s, 17s, will attend the AAUs.  The contributing factors behind this decision were:
-Keep the costs down for the younger age divisions by limiting families travel costs.

-Get more exposure to college coaches for the older age divisions. This year I did not see nearly as many college coaches at festival as there were at AAUs. I believe this is due to the fact that their is a higher level of play at AAUs(good teams that are boycotting Junior Nationals), more teams at AAUs and the fact that AAUs is held earlier in June so as not to conflict with recruiting at Junior Nationals. Unfortunately relatively few college coaches are going to send their staff members to Festival because it is occurring at the same time as Junior Nationals.

-Opportunity at AAUs to play non-socal teams.  It is always frustrating to go to Festival just to play the same socal club teams that we have played all year long. AAUs features very good club teams from the midwest, East Coast, Florida, Texas and many talented Puerto Rican Club Teams.

-With over twice as many Club teams as Festival, the AAU championships is a bigger and more exciting championships to be involved with.

-AAUs is backed by the JVA(club director association) and ACVA(coaches association).

-TV Coverage on ESPN.

-AAU has been running this tournament for 38 years and does a great job putting on a big time feeling event.
